Our Events in 2025
The Beauty By The Sea project is launching with a series of online and in-person events to explore the role of the blue economy in the cosmetics industry. Beginning with webinars in November, the project will focus on marine-based ingredients, sustainable packaging solutions, and regenerative aquaculture practices like kelp and algae farming. These webinars, starting with an introduction to the blue economy on November 14th, will highlight the environmental and economic benefits of using marine resources in cosmetic formulations. A special session in mid November, in partnership with Macro Oceans, will teach attendees how to incorporate sugar kelp into skincare and haircare products, focusing on profitability and sustainability. Water conservation and eco-friendly ingredient use will also be discussed, with practical advice on integrating these principles into supply chains.
In 2025, the project will evolve into live events in Toronto and Vancouver, offering hands-on experiences with marine ingredients at locations like Ripley’s Aquarium and in partnership with the Pacific Seaweed Industry Association. These events will also introduce the Canadian Seaweed Network, aimed at connecting seaweed growers with industries such as cosmetics, textiles, and food. A major highlight of the project is the return of the ChemBox, which will focus on marine-based ingredients and sustainable packaging, sent to companies for product development. The project’s ultimate goal is to foster collaborations across industries, promote the commercialization of marine resources, and support businesses in scaling up through sustainable blue economy practices.
