Uniting Canadian Cosmetics and Bringing it to the World
Chartres, France April 26, 2021 15 associations from five continents launch the first official international cosmetics clusters network Global Cosmetics Cluster: gateway to SME internationalisation, international cluster collaboration, international reference for cosmetics expertise 15 clusters and national associations for cosmetics and perfumery, announced today the official launch of Global Cosmetics Cluster, the global network representing the whole value chain of the beauty industry: including extraction of ingredients, raw materials, formulation, manufacture, packaging, finished products, distribution and logistics, engineering / machine tools, assembly lines, testing and analysis / quality control, services, research and training. This sector was valued as $380.2 billion in 2019 and projected to reach $463.5 billion by 2027. The growth of the cosmetics market is due to the increasing awareness of the importance of beauty and wellness in the female population and the attractiveness of the industry to female entrepreneurs and workforce. The beauty market is innovative, dynamic and progressive, contributing to lifestyle improvement, as well as being assisted by per capita income increasing constantly in emerging countries. The new entity incorporates 15 founder members, representing more than 3700 companies across five continents. The new association’s board is chaired by Cosmetic Valley (France) as President, with Beauty Cluster (Spain) as Treasurer, and Canadian Cosmetics Cluster as Secretary and is completed by Cosmetics Cluster UK. In the words of Marc-Antoine Jamet, President of Cosmetic Valley:"Global Cosmetics Cluster was founded and launched by Cosmetic Valley in 2016 to unite our strengths and resources, to share good practice in cosmetics, and to work on common projects. And this process will be all the more important in the context of the sanitary crisis that is bringing along new challenges, fostering a new balance of power in the cosmetics sector at global level, with new competitors, but also new opportunities. The challenges are difficult to overcome. We need to face them together. “Global Cosmetic Clusters” was set up to empower each of its members and make us collectively stronger. I am very tempted to quote the old Henry Ford, the iconic figure of a precedent industrial revolution who used to say: “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is a progress, working together is a success”. Let’s keep together and deepen our cooperation!” In 2019 its members decided to form a board and committees and work towards the goal of becoming an official organization, which has now been fully realized. In 2020, a new branch, Global Cosmetics Cluster- Europe, was formed with the support of the COSME Programme of the EU Commission. The purpose of the new meta cluster is to increase international collaboration for business and research purposes by creating opportunities for networking and partnerships, thereby helping its members to grow.
