Our SpeakersDr Mark Smith, Director General Natrue Mark graduated with a M.Chem (Hons.) degree in chemistry and an interdisciplinary PhD. between chemistry and genetics. Before joining NATRUE in June 2014, he developed further his research career with two positions covering biotechnology (Leeds, UK) and the biomedical/pharmaceutical sector (Montréal, Canada). Mark is a British national who has more than five years’ experience in Scientific Management. During the last ten years, he has been involved in the successful coordination of strategic and collaborative interdisciplinary projects via academic departmental and international research. Mark became Director General of NATRUE in July 2016. Dr Kristin Neumann, Co-Founder MyMicrobiome Dr Kristin Neumann is the co-founder of the certification institute and information platform MyMicrobiome. With a PhD in Microbiology, her professional career led her to form MyMicrobiome. Dr. Neumann’s realisation of how important an intact microbiome is for the individual’s wellness factored into her decision to summarise the science around the microbiome and to develop the world's first and only independent certification for microbiome-friendly cosmetics and personal care products.’The Microbiome-friendly quality seal separates scientifically proven quality from pure marketing’ she claims. ‘This is why not only end consumers, but also ingredient suppliers and retailers rely on the seal as a benchmark for highest standards’. Barbara Olioso, The Green Chemist Dr Barbara Olioso is a doctor of chemistry, a cosmetic formulator, a speaker and a writer. Her passion and scientific interest is in green chemistry and sustainability applied to cosmetic products to drive sustainable innovation. Based in the UK, she has been specialising in natural and organic cosmetics development since 1999, developing skincare and haircare products. Back in 2005 she was behind the launch of the first certified organic eau de toilette with Primavera Aromatherapy, now Espa International. Barbara moderates the Sustainability Corner at In Cosmetics Global and regularly contributes to Which magazine on beauty topics. She has recently launched her first book, the Green Chemist’s Handbook for Cosmetic Preservation and she is on the British Beauty Council advisory board. Her services range from strategic concept development, formulation support to innovative formulation development and much more, working with beauty brands, big and small, and ingredients suppliers to drive innovation. Jennifer Norman, The Human Beauty Movement Jennifer Norman is the Founder and Chief Human Officer of The Human Beauty Movement, a Certified B Corporation that exists to champion inclusive beauty and wellness. She is also the founder of the Humanist Beauty skincare and lifestyle brand. An award-winning author of SuperCaptainBraveMan children’s books, host of the Role Models podcast, Game Changer represented by Natural Models LA, philanthropist, and disability advocate, Jennifer is a Korean-American adoptee whose personal and professional experience has catalyzed her mission to champion all humans — regardless of ability, race, beliefs, age, or gender — on their paths to manifest the most beautiful version of themselves. Jennifer holds a BS degree in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Georgetown University. She lives in Los Angeles with her son and rescue pup.
